Seriously Not All Right: Five Wars in Ten Years

In Seriously Not All Right, Ron Capps presents a work that is part military and diplomatic memoir, and part story of personal redemption and service after service. In a unique career as both a senior military intelligence officer and as a Foreign Service officer for the U.S. Department of State, Capps served as a peacekeeper, military observer, intelligence collector, and reporting officer trying to stop ethnic cleansing, war crimes, and genocide. Deploying consecutively to Kosovo, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Iraq and Darfur either in the capacity of soldier or diplomat, what he saw, took part in, and reported would forever change him. Those horrific memories, combined with his feelings of guilt and helplessness over his inability to stop the violence would bring him to the depths of PTSD and ultimately to the brink of suicide.

This story, and that of his recovery, is a sobering reminder of the cost of all wars, even those that appeared in the media and to the general public as mere sidelines in the unfolding drama of world events.
