My main project for 2024 is finishing the fellowship I’m on in the MFA program at Fairfield University.
But there is some other stuff.
I’ve written the songs for my next EP, tentatively called Saint Anthony’s Blues. I’m really looking forward to the project, but there’s this matter of time and money. I need to have more time available to do the recordings, and I need to sock away the funding. But the songs are cool. So there’s that.
I’m working on my first screenplay. It will be an adaptation of a novella I never finished called Red Mercury.
I think my next big projects are all plays and screenplays.
Image: Darfur 2005. I was in Darfur several times. In 2004 I was assigned as a soldier to the African Union peacekeeping mission, later that year I went back as a Foreign Service officer working as an advisor to the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO). In 2005-6 I was there as a Foreign Service officer. This image was taken in late 2005. Rebels from the Sudanese Liberation Army were driving me back from their camp to a landing zone to be picked up by an African Union mission helicopter.
